Half Price Books - Summer Reading Program earn GIFT CARDS

Half Price Books is offering a wonderful kids summer reading program. As part of their 'Feed Your Brain Summer Reading Program' a child can sign up to earn $3.00 gift cards when they read 15 minutes a day each week. Children must be 12 and under and you need to register HERE!

Lowes Build and Grow workshops - FREE

On Saturday, May 9th Lowe's is offering a wonderful free children's workshop in store where children will create a flower box for mom to celebrate Mother's Day with. You do need to register ahead of time, arrive on time and be prepared to build in store. They will provide the child with an apron, tools needed, eye protection and a patch to add to their apron when they are done. It is a very fun experience for children and a great project.

Fisher Price is offering a FREE DVD called Precious Places. I signed this up for my daughter to receive in the mail as it appears to be a princess like movie and she adores getting mail!

Free Birdhouse for Kids & more... Lowes

Lowe's Build and Grow clinics are fun and free for children! This month they are featuring a classic birdhouse for our feathered friends on Saturday, April 11th at 10:00am. As well, they are holding a second workshop where children can create a Hang Glider project for outdoor fun. This project will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 10:00am.

You do need to register for these classes online. They do fill up. The first class you attend includes smaller sized eye protection and a Lowe's apron for your child to keep. Each class there after has a patch they earn that you can sew onto their apron, such a fun touch! So, add this to your calendar today for a fun, free activity to enjoy with your little ones.

Toys R Us - Little People Party!

Little People are turning 50 - wow!!! This Saturday, March 21st, they are hosting a free children's activity at your local Toy's R Us store from Noon to 2:00pm. They will have toys out for kids to play with, color sheets, story time and a free DVD for the kids.

Window Birdhouse - Free Kid's Workshop

Home Depot is hosting a darling kids workshop on April 4th - a Window Birdhouse! How cute is this one!!! These are free workshops for children. You do want to contact your local Home Depot though and see how their registration works. I stopped in to check with mine because I heard you have to sign up in person, but that is not how our store worked. So, I have a feeling each store is different OR each project is different. Not sure. Either way, this one is cute!

Free Kids Movies - Local

If you are in the Puget Sound area then you might appreciate this. Grand Cinemas in downtown Tacoma will once again be offering a special day each month, third Saturday, with a free children's movie. Their free movies are starting next month, will be free to the first 100 attendees and is being sponsored by Click! Network. Grand Cinema Theater

Free Sunflower Seeds

Let's help the bees this year with some free sunflower seeds! When you sigh up with the Great Sunflower Project they will provide you with some sunflower seeds in your registration packet. You will then plant them and help to record the quantity of bees who visit your flowers. It appears to be a very easy project and could be one a child can help with, learn from and enjoy! I am willing to try anything to help get the bee population healthy!

Free Johnsons Buddies Soap

Have you used the Johnson's Buddies line with your children yet? It is fun and very child friendly - in particular the little Buddies bar soap. The soap is packaged in a long lasting hand gripping wrap so that the soap doesn't slip out of their hands, can kind of act like a washing material and makes it FUN for kids in the tub... and can any of us really have too clean of a child? My daughter loves it!

A long time back I stocked up with about 15 of them, we are down to 4. So, I am thrilled to see that these coupons are back! And, once again - they will be FREE for you... yes, FREE!!! Print your coupons (remember to wait and hit your browsers back button to print a second time before closing out the screen) and then take them to Walmart or Target for FREE soap. These stores typically have them for .94 to .97 cents each. Can't beat that!

Free Eric Carle Day @ Borders

Borders bookstore is once again featuring a fun kids day for free! This month they are hosting an Eric Carle day on Saturday, March 21st at 2:00pm. Borders typically does a really nice job of hosting a few read aloud stories and an accompanying art project. Every kids event we have attended has also featured a special in the coffee house - like a free pastry (or) free drink when you purchase a beverage. Fun for the whole family... free fun!

Free Home Depot Kids Workshop

Saturday, March 7th is the next Home Depot Kids Workshop for FREE! This month they are making a raceway for race cars. You do not have to register you can just show up to this workshop. Your child will also receive a free Home Depot apron and a pin to add to their apron for each project them make over time.

I thought I would share our experience from last month though. Last month they were hosting a valentines project for free. We showed up about an hour into the allotted time frame to find that all projects had been passed out already, actually right when they opened the host said. They did have back up projects (old ones) for the children to do, which was just fine. But, if you really have your mind set on this months project you do want to plan to arrive at the start time to ensure you receive that project. I also noted many people showed up for a project & apron and left with it - they did not do them on sight. Maybe that is part of the problem? Not sure, but just thought I'd share our experience.

Free Kids Project @ Lowes

This Saturday, February 28th, is the Lowe's Build & Grow workshop from 10:00am till 11:00am. The kids get to build this race car all by them selves. They will also receive a Lowe's apron, eye protection in the form of small eye goggles and a patch for the project they built (can be sewn on their aprons). It is easy to do! You do need to register though, you cannot just show up - the stores do fill up quickly, so if you plan to attend then you'll want to register today!

We did this a couple weeks ago with my daughter and she loved it! What a wonderful community service!
